Srinagar, Jan. 25 -- In a major boost to food grain logistics in Kashmir region, Northern Railway achieved a historic milestone on Saturday with the arrival of its first-ever 42-wagon BCN food grain rake at Anantnag from Punjab.
Despite disruptions in unloading operations due to adverse weather conditions in valley, the first full rake of rice was successfully unloaded at Anantnag Railway Station.
"This 42 BCN goods train rake was loaded from Sangrur Goods Shed of Ambala Division in collaboration with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and reached Anantnag Goods Terminal in record time, within 24 hours," Public Relations Inspector Jammu Division, Raghvender Singh said.
