Siliguri, June 2 -- Amid the ongoing internal turmoil within the Trinamool Congress (TMC), questions have emerged over the political future of several party legislators from North Bengal and whether any of them may consider shifting allegiance at a time of uncertainty within the erstwhile ruling party.
Political observers are closely watching the stance of the 14 TMC MLAs elected from North Bengal. Speculation has been particularly intense in Malda and Uttar Dinajpur districts, where political equations have undergone significant changes in recent years.
Malda district, in particular, remains crucial for the party. Of the legislators elected from the district, six continue to represent the Trinamool Congress in the Assembly.
