Mumbai, Feb. 12 -- In a major relief to landowners, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has announced a significant decision simplifying the process of converting agricultural land for non-agricultural (NA) use.

Citizens will no longer be required to visit the District Collector's office or submit bundles of documents and applications to convert land into non-agricultural property, he said on Wednesday.

Additionally, the existing non-agricultural (NA) tax has been abolished. Instead, a one-time charge will be levied going forward, he noted.

Under the new decision, there will be no separate requirement to formally convert land to NA status for non-agricultural use. Approval of the building plan on such land will itself be deemed as ...
