Puducherry, April 7 -- The Puducherry election department has imposed a ban on sale of liquor in the union Territory for three days in view of the Assembly polls on April 9.

After the Model Code of Conduct came into force, the liquor shops were allowed to function up to 10.00 PM with certain conditions.

In view of the polling on April 9, a ban was imposed on the sale of liquor and shops were sealed at 10.00 PM on Monday. Because of this a large crowd was witnessed in all liquor shops purchasing liquor in bulk.The liquor too godowns were sealed at 5.00 PM on Monday.
