Shimla, Oct. 26 -- The Joint Committee constituted by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to examine allegations of illegal hill cutting and mining along the Kiratpur- Nerchowk section of the Kiratpur- Manali four-lane highway has found no evidence of unscientific hill cutting or illegal mining within the Right of Way (ROW) of the project.
The Committee, comprising representatives from the Himachal Pradesh Pollution Control Board and the District Administrations of Bilaspur and Mandi, conducted inspections on April 9 and 10, 2024. The project, implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), spans 78.28 km-comprising 30.53 km of brownfield and 47.75 km of greenfield stretches-and was opened to traffic on September 5, 2023.
