New Delhi, April 15 -- The Wholesale Price Index (WPI)-linked inflation surged to 3.88% in March from 2.13% in February, marking the highest reading in 41 months, data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry showed on Wednesday.
The increase was primarily due to a jump in prices of crude petroleum & natural gas, other manufacturing, non-food articles, manufacture of basic metals and food articles, etc.
WPI Inflation for Fuel & Power increased by 4.13% while the prices of mineral oils increased by 8.77%, and the price of electricity decreased by 5.07% in March.
Prices of manufactured goods increased 0.88%, and food inflation remained steady at 1.85%.
