Chennai, March 7 -- Two promsing youngsters from USA, unseeded Niyanth Badrinarayanan and Reena Alavalapti annexed the Boy's and Girl's singles crown in the TVS ITF Junior Under-18 Tennis tournament at Madurai on Saturday.
In the finals, Niyanth won 6-2, 3-2 against fifth seeded Teja Ravi who retired midway. while Reena was engaged in a gruelling three setter before edging past third seed Aahida Singh 6-2, 1-6 7-6(6).
In the boys final Niyanth displayed his improved serve and groundstrokes and outplayed Tejas Ravi to win the title.
The girls singles final was a battle between firm solid groundstrokes of unseeded Reena and a crafty game of Aahida Singh which lasted 3 hours and 25 minutes.
