Kolkata, Jan. 27 -- BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday paid tribute to some of West Bengal's greatest luminaries while addressing the party's 'Kamal Mela' programme at Chitralaya Maidan in Durgapur, underscoring the state's rich cultural and intellectual legacy and the BJP's commitment to preserving it.

Expressing condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic fire incident at Anandapur, Nabin said that 'Kamal Mela' was an initiative aimed at carrying forward Bengal's cultural heritage, which, he noted, has historically shown the way to the entire nation.

Recalling the past, he said West Bengal's education system once illuminated India as a whole.
