Chandigarh, Feb. 1 -- In a significant boost to India's cultural and historical preservation, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in the Budget that Rakhigarhi in Haryana will be developed as one of the country's 15 'Iconic Archaeological Sites'. This move is set to place the Harappan-era settlement as one of the largest and oldest centres of the Indus-Saraswati civilisation firmly on the international tourism map.

The Finance Minister detailed that the transformation of Rakhigarhi will include the construction of dedicated pathways for tourists and the appointment of local guides to enhance the visitor experience.
