Malappuram, June 20 -- The Nilambur assembly by-election, held on June 19 recorded a voter turnout of 75.27 percent. Out of a total of 2,32,057 voters, 1,74,667 people reached the polling booth and exercised their right to vote. Out of 1,13,299 male voters, 81,007 exercised their franchise, while out of 1,18,750 female voters, 93,658 casted their vote.

The counting of votes will take place on June 23 at Chungathara Marthoma Higher Secondary School. After the polling was completed on Thursday, the voting machines of all 263 polling stations were brought to Chungathara and sealed in the strong room of Marthoma School in the presence of political representatives, election observers and officials.
