Panchkula, Aug. 23 -- A 47-year-old Nigerian national lodged in Bhondsi District Jail in connection with a narcotics case died during treatment at a government hospital in Gurugram after his health deteriorated, Haryana Police said on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Alex Tochukwu Osuji, who had been lodged in District Jail Bhondsi since July 17, 2024 in connection with a case registered at Police Station Sector-29, Gurugram, involving alleged possession and sale of illegal narcotic substances.
According to the Haryana Police spokesperson, jail authorities reported that Osuji was HIV positive and had been suffering from fever, reduced food intake, breathing difficulties and other health-related problems for several days.
