Imphal, Jan. 23 -- Manipur government on Friday ordered an NIA probe into the killing of a youth by Kuki militants and announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased.
Mayanglangbam Rishikanta Singh, son of M. Tombi Singh of Kakching Khunou Hijam Uchan Makhong Leikai, was shot dead at Natjang Village, Churachandpur, on January 21. Alleged Kuki militants also uploaded a disturbing video of the incident.
A Joint Action Committee, led by Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, along with MLAs Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh and Kangujam Ranjit Singh, accompanied by family members of the bereaved, met state Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla during the day and submitted a memorandum.
