Kolkata, May 27 -- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested 14 more people from West Bengal's Malda district in connection with last month's violent protests, road blockades, and the alleged illegal detention of judicial officers engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls ahead of the Assembly elections.

The arrests relate to the April 1 unrest at Mothabari in Malda's Kaliachak-II block, where seven judicial officers - including three women - were allegedly held hostage for several hours by an agitated mob protesting against the removal of names from voter lists.

The arrests were made late on Monday after NIA teams raided several locations in Malda's Kaliachak and Mothabari.
