Kendrapada, July 6 -- A two-member team of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) arrived in Odisha's Kendrapada district on Monday to conduct an independent inquiry into allegations of police inaction preceding the self-immolation of a 21-year-old college student in August 2025.
The inquiry team, comprising Deputy Superintendent of Police Lal Bahar and Inspector Abhinas Sharma, is scheduled to visit the residence of the deceased, P.D. Sangeeta, at Kathiapada village under Badapada Gram Panchayat in the Pattamundai Rural police station area on Tuesday.
