Kendrapada, Aug. 27 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Thursday directed the Superintendent of Police, Balasore, and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Balasore, to submit a report on the status of compensation to a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly raped in the Kamarda area of the district.
The Commission passed the direction while considering a petition filed by Kendrapada-based human rights defender Sagar Jena.
The case relates to an alleged sexual assault on the minor on August 2, 2025, within the jurisdiction of Kamarda Police Station. The victim's family subsequently lodged an FIR, alleging inaction by the local police.
