Thiruvananthapuram, May 20 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued "Advisory 2.0" to the Secretaries of 11 union Ministries, the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, and the Chief Secretaries and Administrators of all States and union Territories, calling for urgent and comprehensive measures to ensure the welfare and protection of transgender persons across the country.
The fresh advisory, issued as a continuation of the Commission's September 15, 2023, recommendations, follows extensive field interactions, stakeholder consultations and implementation reviews conducted by the NHRC, a release said.
