Bengaluru, Sept. 1 -- The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has stepped in over allegations of serious environmental and public health impacts linked to an ethanol plant in Belagavi district, directing that the matter be taken up by its Southern Zone Bench in Chennai.
The case relates to an 845-KLPD ethanol plant near the Ugar Sugar Factory at Ugar Khurd, where the petitioner has alleged that industrial operations have exposed nearby residents to air, water, soil and noise pollution.
