Auckland, July 19 -- The New Zealand government has unveiled a new public research institution to grow the country's tech sector and boost high-value exports.
The New Zealand Institute for Advanced Technology (NZIAT) is designed to convert world-class science into commercial success and enhance the country's global competitiveness, Science, Innovation and Technology Minister Shane Reti said today.
The NZIAT will focus on breakthrough fields including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and synthetic biology with transformative potential for industry and exports, Reti said.
