Itanagar, Oct. 11 -- In a remarkable recognition of his contributions to agricultural and horticultural development in Arunachal Pradesh, a newly discovered Begonia species has been named "Chowna Buku Chulu (Aryarakta)", meaning "noble red", in honour of Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.

The discovery was made by a research team from the State Horticulture Research and Development Institute (SHRDI), Basar, in Leparada district. The vibrant red-leaf Begonia, found in the region's natural habitat, symbolizes the spirit of scientific curiosity and discovery.
