Kolkata, Dec. 31 -- The netizens of Kolkata on Wednesday woke up to a season's coldest day with mercury dipped to the lowest 11 degrees so far, a record in 2025, initially with poor visibility, which later cleared with the sunshine allowing to clear traffic of trains and flights with delayed schedules, official sources said.
The cold spell, which persisted for past weeks, further tightened in the neighbouring districts of South Bengal in Bankura and Purulia between 5 and 6 and hardened to below 3 degrees in the Darjeeling hills.
The netizens of Kolkata have been experiencing a significant cold spell from mid December, with temperatures dropping between 12-13degC, marking the coldest period of the season.
