New Delhi, Sept. 10 -- The Nepal Army has announced a nationwide curfew beginning today at 5 pm and lasting until tomorrow morning 6 am, citing growing threats to public safety during ongoing protests.

In an official statement, the Nepal Army said, "While peaceful demonstrations had been taking place, unruly groups had infiltrated the protests, engaging in vandalism, arson, looting, targeted attacks, and even attempted sexual assaults. The curfew aims to curb further violence and restore peace and order."The Army said essential services, including ambulances, fire engines, hearses, and vehicles transporting health workers and security personnel, will be allowed to operate during the curfew.
