New Delhi, June 20 -- India's star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finished fourth at the Doha Diamond League on Friday, registering a season-best throw of 85.69m in his first Diamond League appearance of the year.
The effort was enough for the two-time Olympic medallist to achieve the qualifying standard for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 2.
The Doha event marked Chopra's return to competition after a long injury layoff. The star thrower had delayed confirming his participation as he continued to monitor his fitness and recovery. Only after a successful final training session did Chopra and his team decide that he was ready to compete, with organisers subsequently confirming his entry.
