Guwahati, Feb. 14 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 4.25 km long highway-based emergency landing facility (ELF) at Moran in Assam's Dibrugarh district on Saturday, enhancing India's defence preparedness along its eastern frontier.

The Prime Minister landed at Moran on a C-130J Hercules aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF). He was accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, IAF's Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, and several top IAF officials. The event also featured landings and takeoffs of multiple combat aircraft on the new facility.
