Guwahati, March 5 -- With the Opposition failing to field a consensus candidate for the Rajya Sabha seats, all three nominees in the upcoming elections are set to be elected unopposed in Assam.

The candidates, Cabinet Minister Jogen Mahan, former BJP MLA from Duliajan Terash Gowala, and United Peoples' Party Liberal (UPPL) chief Promod Boro, have filed their nominations for the Upper House. With no Opposition candidate entering the fray, their election is now a mere formality.

Their unopposed victory will once again ensure a strong presence for the NDA in the Rajya Sabha from Assam.
