New Delhi, July 7 -- union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday claimed that the Election Commission of India has assured appropriate action after a BJP delegation submitted a complaint alleging large-scale irregularities in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka.

Speaking to reporters after meeting Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners, Joshi said the delegation apprised the poll panel of what it described as attempts by the Congress government in Karnataka to derail the SIR process.

He alleged that although the Congress had initially opposed the SIR exercise, it was now manipulating the revision process in violation of Election Commission guidelines.
