Patna, June 8 -- Candidates of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Monday filed their nomination papers for elections to nine biennial seats and one by-election seat of the Bihar Legislative Council, with the electoral debut of Nishant Kumar, son of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, drawing particular attention.
Nishant Kumar, a JD(U) nominee, filed his nomination papers along with fellow party candidates Bharti Mehta, Shivrani Devi Prajapati and Lalan Prasad, who is contesting the by-election seat. The NDA has fielded nine candidates, including four each from the Janata Dal (United) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and one from the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
