Mumbai, Aug. 31 -- The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP) today decided to suspend its state-wide 'Mandal Yatra' to prevent any law-and-order issues in Maharashtra.

Following the decision, the party's OBC wing president, Raj Rajapurkar, visited protest leader Manoj Jarange-Patil at Azad Maidan, where the Maratha reservation agitation is ongoing. Jarange-Patil is leading a protest demanding Maratha reservation under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category, along with other related demands.

Meanwhile, the National OBC Federation has launched chain hunger strikes in Nagpur and other locations, opposing the inclusion of Marathas in the OBC category. OBC leaders have also warned of intensifying their agitation.
