Pune, Dec. 27 -- The proposed alliance between Ajit Pawar and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) for the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporations has collapsed even before taking shape.

Differences over seat-sharing and the election symbol emerged during talks, making it clear that an understanding between the two NCP factions is unlikely.

Senior leaders of the Sharadchandra Pawar faction, including spokesperson Ankush Kakade, Vishal Tambe, and MLA Bapu Pathare, met Ajit Pawar to discuss the possibility of an alliance. The discussions reportedly continued late into the night.
