Mumbai, April 30 -- The deadlock over the lone Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) seat from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) quota has finally been resolved. The party high command has officially nominated young leader and former MLA Zeeshan Siddique, the son of the late politician Baba Siddique, for the seat.

The announcement followed a series of high-stakes meetings at the 'Devgiri' residence of the Deputy CM that lasted late into the night.

Sources indicate that the NCP leadership consulted with Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar and other Mahayuti allies before finalising the candidate. While some senior party members were reportedly pushing for other names, a consensus was ultimately reached in favor of Siddique.
