Srinagar, Sept. 30 -- The final day of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly's autumn session began on a noisy note on Wednesday, with ruling National Conference (NC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members trading barbs over the withdrawal of Bills proposing an increase in the salaries and allowances of legislators.
Soon after Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather entered the House, NC MLA Altaf Ahmad Kaloo accused the BJP of "doing politics" over the salary bill. Kaloo alleged that BJP members had initially signed salary enhancement application of MLAs, but later opposed it after their demand for a salary of Rs 3 lakh was not accepted.
His remarks triggered protests from BJP members, who stood up and objected to the allegation.
