Ranchi, March 11 -- The three-day National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2025-26 began at the Sarla Birla University campus in Birla Knowledge City, Mahilong near Ranchi on Wednesday.
More than 450 players from different states are participating in the tournament, including around 150 players from Jharkhand.
Ranchi mayor Roshni Khalkho inaugurated the championship and said games like chess help develop concentration, strategic thinking and patience among the youth.
She said such national-level events play an important role in promoting sports talent in Jharkhand and providing a platform to young players.
