Nashik, July 31 -- India's Dilip Gavit, who won the gold medal in the 100m para-athletics event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, hails from a tribal village situated on the Maharashtra-Gujarat border, about 100 km from Nashik.

Gavit mentioned that although he was initially trailing in the 100m para-athletics event in Glasgow, he recalled his coach's advice, surged ahead in the final 30 seconds, and secured the victory.

His parents learned of his spectacular achievement when a teacher from Dilip's school informed them via phone. They expressed their happiness and said he had brought glory to the nation.
