Nashik, Feb. 8 -- The Municipal Corporation has launched a pilot ward initiative to improve city cleanliness, especially in view of the Kumbh Mela and to secure a top position in the central government's Swachh Bharat (Clean India) city competition.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among citizens about waste segregation.
However, failure to separate wet and dry waste will result in an on-the-spot fine of Rs 300 for households and Rs 500 for commercial establishments. While stating that this is being strictly enforced, officials also revealed that they have collected a staggering Rs 27.31 lakh in fines from 3869 citizens in the last two months.
