Nashik, Oct. 10 -- Artisans in Nashik are working against the clock to complete Durga idols ahead of Sharadiya Navratri, with nearly 90% of the work finished, even as rising prices of raw material and subdued demand have put immense pressure on their business.

Idol makers are giving the finishing touches to the statues as pandals take shape at various locations across the district ahead of the nine-day festival, which draws devotees for worship, celebrations and community gatherings.

Nashik's idol-making market remains active throughout the year, catering to various religious occasions. With Navratri approaching, artisans have shifted their focus to completing Durga idols for installation in public pandals and other venues.
