Kolhapur, Aug. 22 -- Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar on Saturday accused Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of being an "opportunist" and questioned his record of raising issues concerning the younger generation.

Speaking to reporters at the Shri Mahalakshmi temple premises after offering prayers, Narvekar said people had the right to protest in a democracy but maintained that protests should remain within constitutional limits.

"Everyone has the right to protest in a democracy, but a person who believes in democracy does not protest unconstitutionally," he said, adding that the administration had a responsibility to act against attempts to spread violence or chaos in the name of protests. ...
