Nahan, March 17 -- In the wake of the recent large-scale felling of nearly 300 trees in Sirmaur district, residents of Nariwala village in have come together in a strong show of resistance, pledging to protect their forests and environment.

At a community gathering held at the local temple, villagers performed traditional rituals and collectively took an oath to safeguard trees, water sources and land from further degradation.

Sacred threads were tied around tree trunks as a symbolic act of protection, reflecting a deep-rooted cultural commitment to conservation.

Social activist Nathuram Chauhan who attended the meeting, said the recent incident of mass tree felling had alarmed the community and prompted immediate action.
