Mumbai, Aug. 12 -- Sena MP from the Eknath Shinde faction, Naresh Mhaske, has levelled serious allegations against party rival Sanjay Raut, claiming that Raut had once aspired to become Maharashtra's chief minister and had worked to secure control over the Shiv Sena.

Speaking to reporters, Mhaske alleged that Raut had abused Rashmi Thackeray when he was reportedly denied a Rajya Sabha ticket.

"All Shiv Sainiks know about this," Mhaske claimed.

Mhaske further alleged that Raut had held a meeting at a hotel in Powai and had opposed Uddhav Thackeray becoming chief minister.
