Nagpur, March 8 -- Nagpur's young chess player Divya Deshmukh has entered the top 10 of the women's classical world rankings issued by FIDE for the first time following her impressive performance at the Prague Chess Challenge 2026.

The 20-year-old secured third place in the tournament held in Prague, Czech Republic, which helped her raise her live rating to 2509.6 points and climb two spots to reach the 10th position in the global rankings.

Deshmukh scored five points from nine rounds, registering two wins and six draws against strong international opponents.

She concluded the event with a victory over Czech player Stepan Hrbek while playing with the black pieces in the final round.
