Mumbai/Nagpur, July 31 -- A young aspiring woman cricketer has allegedly died by suicide in Nagpur.
Aditi Chaukhade, who was originally from Akola and had been living with her mother in Umalakshmi Apartment in the Laxmi Nagar area for the past two years, is believed to have taken the extreme step due to depression over not being selected for the Vidarbha cricket team.
She used to practise regularly at the Surve Cricket Academy and dreamed of playing cricket at higher levels.
Sources indicated that she had been under mental stress after being left out of the Vidarbha Cricket Association's selection process.
Police recovered a suicide note at the scene which reportedly mentioned that she had not been selected.
