Bengaluru, Aug. 17 -- The Karnataka Legislative Assembly was thrown into turmoil on Monday as BJP and JD(S) members launched a strong attack on the government, demanding the immediate dismissal of Minister B. Nagendra over the multi-crore Valmiki Corporation irregularities.

Opposition members staged a noisy protest in the House and raised slogans demanding Nagendra's resignation, accusing the government of shielding a Minister whose earlier resignation had followed the controversy surrounding the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.

BJP member Sunil Kumar, who raised the issue, said the Opposition could not get answers from the government while Nagendra continued to remain a Minister.
