Bengaluru, Aug. 16 -- The re-induction of B Nagendra into the Karnataka Cabinet has reopened the political battle over the alleged multi-crore irregularities in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation, with the Opposition preparing to make the issue a major flashpoint in the Assembly session resuming Monday.

Nagendra, who had resigned from the Cabinet in June 2024 amid the controversy, has now returned to the government and been allotted the Planning and Statistics portfolio. His re-entry has drawn sharp criticism from the BJP and JD(S), which have questioned the political and ethical propriety of giving a ministerial berth to a leader facing investigation and named as an accused in a CBI chargesheet.
