Deoband (Saharanpur), Oct. 12 -- Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, who follows the Deobandi ideology, on Friday admitted that his visit to India has caused significant unease among Pakistani authorities.

Talking to reporters at the guest house of Darul Uloom, the Deobandi school of learning, Muttaqi said that India and Afghanistan share historic relations dating back thousands of years.

He added that he received more attention in India than expected and expressed confidence that ties between the two countries would grow stronger.

This marks the first visit to India by a minister from Afghanistan since the Taliban took power in 2021. Muttaqi arrived in India on October 9 and is scheduled to return home on October 16.
