Patna, Jan. 22 -- Bihar Agriculture Minister Ramkripal Yadav on Thursday said that the state is emerging as a leading contributor in mushroom production, accounting for nearly 12 percent of the country's total output, and is scripting a new story of self-reliance through this sector.

Yadav said here that mushroom production in Bihar has been witnessing steady growth. He informed that the state produced around 35,000 metric tonnes of mushrooms in the financial year 2022-23 which went up to 42,000 metric tonnes in 2023-24 and 44,930 metric tonnes in 2024-25. This consistent rise reflects the growing importance and potential of mushroom cultivation in Bihar's agriculture-based economy.
