Aizawl, Sept. 1 -- A 20-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of a 15-year-old girl in Mizoram's Lunglei district has escaped from police custody, prompting a search operation.
Denghmingthanga, a resident of Mualthuam North village, reportedly escaped at around midnight on Monday from police custody. He was arrested in connection with the murder of H. Lalramdinpuii. Police has launched an immediate search into the escape.
Denghmingthanga and Lalneihkima, 34, both residents of Mualthuam North, were arrested on August 20 following an investigation into Lalramdinpuii's murder. The teenager's body was recovered from a school compound in Mualthuam North on August 5, two days after she went missing.
