Bengaluru, March 29 -- Invoking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's push for solar energy, union Minister KH Muniyappa on Sunday urged the Centre to extend stronger financial support and incentives to states, positioning renewable energy as the key to India's self-sufficiency.
Quoting the Prime Minister's emphasis that "we have to go ahead with solar energy," Muniyappa said the vision must now translate into concrete backing for states to scale up production across solar, biogas and hydroelectric sectors.
He argued that achieving energy independence requires a coordinated centre-state approach, with targeted assistance to unlock underutilised resources such as vast stretches of wasteland that could be deployed for solar projects.
