Mumbai, June 6 -- The city faces acute water shortage as the Mumbai Water Tanker Association has announced an indefinite shutdown of tanker services from midnight of June 7, to protest against stringent Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) norms.
The strike could disrupt water supplies to housing societies, commercial establishments and industries that rely on tanker deliveriesThe Association submitted a memorandum to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Ajit Pawar and the Municipal Commissioner demanding resolution of technical and legal hurdles created by the new CGWA provisions.
