Mumbai, Jan. 15 -- Mumbai recorded a 6.98 pc voter turnout by 9:30 am on Thursday as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections got underway.
Bollywood lyricist Gulzar cast his vote at a polling booth in Bandra, urging citizens to exercise their democratic right. "We are rooted in our homeland, and your vote is to nurture those roots and to nurture democracy. So be sure to fulfil this duty," he said.
BJP MP and actor Hema Malini voted at Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu, while actor Akshay Kumar cast his ballot earlier in the day.
