Mumbai, April 7 -- After more than a decade of waiting, Mumbai's Mira-Bhayandar region joined the city's metro network on Tuesday as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated Phase 1 of Metro Line 9.

The 5-km stretch between Dahisar East and Kashigaon was flagged off at 10 am from Dahisar, in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar.

The new corridor includes four stations are Dahisar East, Pandurangwadi, Miragaon, and Kashigaon.

Metro Line 9 operates as an extension of the existing Red Line 7. Officials said commuters from Mira Road can now travel directly to Gundavali/Andheri East without changing trains, a move expected to significantly cut travel time and ease congestion on the Western Express Highway...
