Mumbai, Sept. 13 -- The Mumbai Police have denied permission to Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil to hold an indefinite hunger strike at Azad Maidan in Mumbai on September 19, citing concerns over public order, traffic management and disruption to essential services in South Mumbai.

Jarange Patil had sought permission from the police to stage the hunger strike at Azad Maidan and had assured the authorities that all conditions imposed by the administration would be strictly followed. He had also submitted an undertaking to this effect. However, the Azad Maidan Police have rejected the request.
