Mumbai, Sept. 11 -- The water levels in lakes supplying drinking water to Mumbai have reached 98 percent, according to data from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The combined stock in all seven lakes is enough to meet the city's water needs until the next monsoon.
The lakes - Upper Vaitarna, Modak Sagar, Tansa, Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Vihar, and Tulsi - have benefited from steady rainfall over the past week, pushing most close to full capacity.
Modak Sagar, Tulsi, and Vihar have reached 100 per cent storage, while Upper Vaitarna and Tansa are at 98 per cent, Middle Vaitarna at 97.40 per cent, and Bhatsa at 97.55 per cent.
